Kildallon Expo

Kildallon Expo, a showcase of the many activities that take place at Kildallon Education Centre, was held on Saturday 6th April 2024.

Unkind weather meant that the event, which had been scheduled for the front lawn, had to be moved to the covered area (built out by gazebos) at the rear of the main building.

Despite this set back, the day was quite well attended and the audience was treated to a wide range of entertainment provided by the groups that call Kildallon home.

Mudgee Concert Band (and its newly formed Jazz Ensemble) played three brackets of popular and toe-tapping numbers, showing that they are truly a talented group of musicians.

Two short plays were performed by Cudgegong Youth Theatre (the junior wing of Mudgee Performing Arts Society) giving a taste of their upcoming Short Shorts program. The colourful designs seen on the faces of younger audience members was also the responsibility of CYT.

A number of Music students, playing different instruments, presented their pieces. For many of them, this was the first time in front of an audience. Overcoming nerves, they did very well.

Proving that retirement does not mean inactivity, Mudgee District U3A’s women’s choir (Cantobella), Line Dancers and Tai Chi group also demonstrated their ability.

Mudgee Readers’ Festival was represented by three members of Cudgegong Poets. The readings of their own poetry was both insightful and powerful.

Meanwhile, a cake and drinks stall was doing brisk business as was the BBQ, operated by Cudgegong Camera Club.

The entertainment program was not the  only thing happening. Inside the building there were displays of arts and crafts created by U3A members, a presentation of photographs by Cudgegong Camera Club and screenings of past productions by Mudgee Performing Arts Society.

Furthermore, the newly opened Country Universities Centre was open for inspection. People were invited to view the facility and the large exhibition of local art that it houses.

Overall, it was a successful day, clearly indicating that Kildallon Education Centre is a valuable asset to the community.

Thank you to everyone who attended and/or participated in the event.
